I feel fortunate to have done my TEFL certification course in Budapest. The Via Lingua instructors were fun to work with, and they really knew their stuff. I discovered a new appreciation for the English language once I saw it through Hungarian eyes. And as hard as it was for me to leave the city, Via Lingua Budapest set me up with the training I needed to continue my teaching in places like Seoul and Hong Kong. It was an experience I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone.

I participated in Via Lingua’s course in Budapest in the summer of 2009. Living and working in Budapest was an overwhelmingly positive experience. The welcoming and talented staff made my transition to a new country very comfortable and the course, which offered plenty of opportunity to practice the knowledge and skills I acquired, left me feeling prepared to face any teaching obstacle I might encounter. Upon finishing the course, Via Lingua (and it’s participating schools) helped me quickly find teaching positions here in Budapest working with international companies and children alike. I never felt alone or unprepared because I had constant access to resources like the school’s library and the wonderful instructors. I recommend the Via Lingua course to anyone for the skills and confidence you will acquire, as a TEFL teacher and as a person, but also for the opportunity to experience Budapest. I came with the intention of staying for a month and instead stayed for an entire very exciting, fulfilling and successful year.

Hello, my name is María Elena, I’m from Mexico and I decided to change the course of my career to be able to enjoy more my life, working and travelling at the same time, allowing me to know different cultures, people and places. During the TEFL course at Via Lingua Budapest, I realized that it’s hard work to do there, lots of learning and I really enjoyed that. I never imagined all the teaching skills you need for teaching and it was a great experience being able to apply them in every lesson I practiced teaching there.

If you’re thinking about a TEFL course, what I can say is that it requires hard work, but it’s well worth it, great experience in professional and personal terms.

The course challenged me to acquire a new understanding of teaching, added to – and became a third type of teaching methodology and skill – previous teaching experiences. I was very impressed by our trainers, I felt challenged and accomplished.

Although stressful and intense I learned a lot about how to teach. Meeting and teaching the class was a lot of fun.

I never thought I would get as much out of the course as I have. I feel confident and eager to start! Everyone was fantastic, I could not have asked for more! It’s a great course for everyone who wants to start teaching. The correct way!

The TEFL course in Budapest
Is one of the very best
Courses that I ever did take

Anita and her crew,
Planned so much for us to do
There was no time for a break

But once I grasped the past perfect continuous,
All my problems seemed to be superfluous

Lesson plans, concept checks,
PPP and final tests
Left a feeling of success

…and of those who stayed with us or returned to teach for Tudomány Nyelviskola – and since 2016 August, for CONVERZUM Language Community.

I’m an American from Dallas, TX, who’s worked at Tudomany for four years, starting with the Via Lingua program. In that time everyone I’ve met there, without exception, has been kind, helpful, and thoughtful. I’ve learned an enormous amount from the other teachers, received essential help in navigating the Hungarian bureaucracy, and been continually impressed by the friendliness and professionalism of the reception and office staff. While I’ve taught for other language schools as well, Tudomany is the only one where I’ve looked forward to coming into headquarters. Anyone thinking of teaching in Budapest should look here first.
