EU funding!

Are you a teacher of any subject in the public or private sector in a EU country? Come to our Via Lingua Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) course EU funded!

You may have heard about the changes of European Union grants, formerly under the name of Life Long Learning. Sub-programmes that were called Comenius, Grundtvig, Leonardo, Erasmus etc., are now replaced by the new Erasmus+ Program.

From January 2014 European teachers can apply for grants to take part in training courses in foreign countries (not in their country of citizenship). Grants include a budget for organisation, travel, course fee and subsistence, that is, it may cover practically all expenses that will occur. You can, supported by your school, apply for grants through your school.

The Via Lingua TEFL course is a great opportunity for you as a school teacher if you are a member of staff already but because of the growing number of foreign students at your school, you want to gain experience in the field of Teaching English as a Foreign Language. You and your colleagues can apply not only for our TEFL course but for other courses in Europe as well, at the same time and within the same grant. The training descriptions of all these courses will need to be included in the so called European Development Plan, which is part of the grant application. Courses you and your colleagues can apply for in the 2018 call may take place between June 2018 and May 30 2020.

You can apply for grants through your school.

Steps to follow:

–    discuss with your colleagues and school director the training plan of your school (how many teachers may want to participate in training courses)
–    register your organisation in the ECAS system to get a PIC code or contact your institution’s grant support department
–    fill in the application form (forms are available – and can be completed – in all European languages from the Erasmus+ site)
–    submit the grant

In the application form you and your colleagues will need to submit a one-year plan in line with the EU 2020 Education, Training, Youth and Sport Proposal to request grants for yourself.
